Once again, wines of the ESPIRITU DE CHILE range were honored with awards at Austria’s largest international wine valuation „Vienna International Wine Challenge“: two silver medals again attest to the excellent quality of the Chilean wine range.
With these new accolades, Espíritu de Chile proves the high consistency in quality and taste, thanks to a dedicated wine making team under Chief Winemaker Jon Usabiaga. The awarded dark-red Gran Reserva Carmenère 2007 impresses with fine aromas of blueberries and spices which combine perfectly with a finishing touch of coffee, mocha and vanilla from the oak ageing in French barrels. The rich, dark-red Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 captivates with aromas of blackcurrants, wild berries and elderberries. Both wines originate from the Curico Valley.
2009 marked the sixth year for the AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge. This largest international wine contest in Austria takes place under the patronage of the Federal Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and the Environment. In a blind taste test, 300 independent enologists and wine experts sampled and tested nearly 9,000 wines from throughout the world.
The presentation of the results and the award ceremonies will be held in the presence of more than 2,500 invited wine experts and wine lovers in the course of the „Wine Gala Night 2009“ in the ballroom of Vienna’s City Hall on November, 2nd 2009.
