At this year’s Vienna International Wine Challenge, shortly known as AWC, all three wines of the ESPIRITU DE CHILE Gran Reserva range were acknowledged for their outstanding quality. ESPIRITU DE CHILE Gran Reserva Merlot 2003 received GOLD, the varietals Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon were both honoured with SILVER.
Since ESPIRITU DE CHILE’s launch earlier this year, the wine brand has already experienced very positive feedback from the trade and from customers alike. Managing Director of ESPIRITU DE CHILE, Ernesto Muller comments: "I am thrilled by the results achieved. These three noble wines in the ESPIRITU DE CHILE Gran Reserva line form the pinnacle of the range. They were carefully selected and nurtured, aged in the finest oak barrels and with full attention to the highest standards of quality. Chief Winemaker John Usabiaga has chosen these wines to satisfy the most discerning palates of connoisseurs and wine lovers everywhere, and I am convinced that these well-balanced wines will soon bring even more recognition on international level in the near future."
The AWC Vienna is the most important international wine challenge in the German-speaking region and together with London, Bordeaux, Verona and Brussels represents one of the world's most important wine trophies. This year 4,468 wines out of 18 nations were tested. The presentation of the results and the trophies will take place in the course of the "Wine Gala Night" in the City Hall of Vienna on October 31st, 2006.
