ESPIRITU DE CHILE GRAN RESERVA MERLOT was recently awarded at the "Berliner Weintrophy 2007", one of Germany’s most important wine competitions.
Like numerous other European metropolises also the German capital has its international wine challenge. The tasting which was held from January 4th until 8th 2007 was organised according to the strict rules of the OIV (Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin). A jury of 53 members form 14 countries tasted 1,540 wines of premium quality which all applied for the different accolades of the challenge.
The achieved silver medal for ESPIRITU DE CHILE Gran Reserva supports earlier achieved acknowledgement for excellent wine quality and outstanding price/quality ratio. The awarded Merlot of the Gran Reserva range convinced the jury with its pleasant fruit and well-balanced tannin structure; its delicate aromas of vanilla which are supported by hints of cherry, chocolate and mint; as well as its extra finesse which was achieved by maturation in barrique barrels.
A particular feature of the Berlin Wine Trophy is its connection with the Berlin Wine Fair, one of the largest consumer wine fairs with some 15,700 visitors this year. Already during the fair visitors were able to taste most of the Berlin Trophy awarded wines and ESPIRITU DE CHILE enjoyed large interest by the fair visitors.
